The hospital houses the most active Eye Bank of
North Karnataka, The S.G.M. Eye Bank Trust & Research Foundation which
promotes Eye donation & collects the donated Eyes. The corneal
grafting surgeries are done on a regular basis on charitable basis.
Our future plan is up-gradation of existing Eye Bank to International
standard to start Tissue Culture Methods.
EYE BANK ’s primary mission is restoration of vision. Eye Bank
provides corneal tissues for transplantation, support research,
training, promotes public awareness of the need of donors. S.G.M. Eye
Bank have developed into professional operations with highly trained
staff, a 24-hours service, and equipped with advanced technology
instruments.
The world has more than forty-five million variety of causes blind
peoples and number of blind peoples added every year thirty thousands.
India has an estimated twelve million blind peoples due to a variety
of causes. Participate in the fight against blindness by pledging your
eyes and make the difference of a lifetime between darkness and light
for two otherwise blind people.
S.G.M. Eye Bank is open 24 hours a day, every single day of the year
to disseminate the importance of eye donation and facilitate in the
collection, processing and distribution of eyes, to finally benefit
the corneal blind people in the country.
S.G.M Eye Bank has public awareness programs such, Awareness lectures
to clubs, voluntary organizations, Schools, other teaching
institutions and other service organizations, Posters display,
Distribution of Brochures and Pamphlets. A series of slides are
projected and explained to the members of the village peoples..
S.G.M. Eye Bank has necessary arrangements to collect the eyes so
donated. These eyes will be assessed & preserved by the S.G.M. Eye
Bank, later the corneal tissue will be transplanted into the eyes of a
person blinded by a corneal disease. |
